After the sweltering heat we’ve had to endure this summer, I am welcoming Fall with open arms. I’m dreaming of crisper temps, chunky sweaters and evening fires! As soon as September rolls around, I start to feel the urge to add subtle accents that ease our home into the warm, cozy ambience of Fall. Here’s a few of my tried-and-true ways to transition the atmosphere at home from Summer to Fall:

1. Bring Nature Inside - This is one of the most affordable ways to incorporate autumn into your space. All you need is a pair of large clippers and an eye for seasonal branches on trees in your yard or outdoor space. Put the branches and greenery in an oversized pitcher or antique container and you have a stunning fall statement piece for your kitchen, dining room or living room. I say, the bigger, the better!

2. Swap Your Textiles - Another easy way to refresh any room to reflect a new season is by swapping out your pillows. With the swap of a pillow, you can instantly update the look of any sofa, chair or bed. So, it’s time to put away the bright colors and cool tones from the spring and summer and bring out the warm fall colors that give off all the cozy and comfortable vibes.

3. Layer in Texture - One of my favorite ways to update my home for the fall is the addition of chunky knit throws and natural textures. Using a variety of fabrics and texture adds depth to the overall aesthetic of a space. Especially in a room full of neutrals, layering and textures can create a more welcoming environment. Also as temperatures begin to drop, you’ll be thankful for those thick, warm blankets close at hand!

4. Add Seasonal Scents - With fall comes all of its glorious scents. Pumpkin spice, burning bonfires and crisp fallen leaves - just to name a few. A high quality, fall-scented candle can instantly transport your home into the autumn season, even if it’s still hot outside.
