When I think of an icon, I see someone who’s style is identifiable, and who’s talent is timeless. Sometimes, it takes an entire career to curate an aesthetic worthy of “icon” status, but there are some who’s talents are so strong, they allure us with their great taste well before middle age.
Enter Sean Anderson. I can’t remember when I was first introduced to Sean’s work, but he nearly immediately fell into the category of design genius in my mind.
Sean is known for creating highly curated spaces, edited down to feature the intriguing elements and artifacts he is so deft at sourcing. His main palette hovers around the neutral zone, wielding a talent for dark and moody rooms like no other. Though some of my favorite works are spaces one could describe as masculine, he can turn on a dime, and create the most elegant room - elegant, sans meringue. In all cases, there is a depth of soul to his work, where patina’d accessories feature against a classic template. Sean’s work inspires me to think about timelessness, quality, and uniqueness, “iconic” qualities indeed!
