Project Reveal: Mid-Century with a Global Twist
We recently wrapped a long-term project to add in some definition, layers and textures to a home that already had good things going on. The client came to us with a keen design sense, but wanted a professional's guidance, and access to trade furnishings and fabrics.
The home was originally built in 1962 as a split level. One of the previous owners was an architect who expanded the house, and did a wonderful job complementing the original structure. There are so many of these original homes being torn down, it makes my heart happy to see someone take the time to think through saving them - perfectly melding the old with the new.
We were similarly tasked with the interiors. Our client wanted to keep her existing dining table, but find new, comfortable chairs to work with it. There was also a nondescript nook that lacked purpose and personality. We worked with our client to create a thoughtful space that has presence. We helped select a stone veneer for a fireplace surround, which created a beautiful focal point to a sitting area. And lastly, we brought in custom window treatments to add a final, textural element. The result: a mix of global and mid-century that makes our eclectic-loving hearts sing!
